COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions*

Uncertainties related to the Coronavirus pandemic have triggered many questions about insurance coverage. Below are answers to frequently asked questions from our members as well as resource links to many of our insurance carriers. Please don’t hesitate to contact your Towne Insurance agent for additional information.

What if I cannot pay my insurance premium because my family or business has been impacted by Covid-19?

The Insurance Carrier COVID-19 websites for many of our carriers have been posted to our website and will be updated periodically. You should call these insurance companies directly as some are offering, on a case-by-case basis, flexible payment options for customers whose ability to pay has been affected by Covid-19.

Feel free to also call your Towne Insurance representative who can help direct you to the appropriate insurance company billing department.

Will my policy provide loss of income coverage (Business Income or Contingent Business Income) because my business has been negatively affected by Coronavirus?
Property policies do not generally provide coverage for loss of income due to a virus or a mandate to close from a civil authority. Property policies typically contain language that require direct physical loss or damage to property by a covered cause of loss for coverage to apply. The presence of a virus on a surface would not generally constitute a direct physical loss.

However, we are unable to respond to hypothetical questions or claims scenarios. If you believe that you have a business interruption claim that might be covered please call your insurance carrier directly to file a claim.  You may also contact us directly and we will help facilitate this process for you.
I have been forced to layoff many of my employees due to Covid-19. Am I able to adjust the payroll on my workers compensation policy now to lower my insurance premiums during this difficult time?
This will be handled on a case-by-case basis and will be determined by the insurance Company. Your Towne Insurance representative can provide you with advice on this matter and communicate with your insurance carrier on your behalf.
